Le 16 décembre, les élèves de Seconde et Première en option Advanced English sont allés au théâtre pour voir la pièce Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde en anglais.
« We went to the « Edouard Hériot » hall with my Advanced English classmates to see a play entitled Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It is an adaptation from the book The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde writted by Robert Louis Stevenson.
The entire play was in English and the actors were mostly French but also American, Canadian and British.
The play depicts a man, the main character who is trying to separate his body between the bad part of his personality and the good one. I think that the author wants to make us think about our quest for good and freedoom. It is simplier to act badly in some situations and it’s hard to fight againts that. Furthermore, this play shows the danger of addiction since the main character becomes addicted to his potion.
In my opinion, the actors were extremely talented. I was captivated during the whole play and the plot was great ».
Dune (AE 2nde)
« The story is about Doctor Jekyll, a good doctor who creates a potion. This potion changed him into Mister Hyde, a violent and evil man. The play shows the fight between good and evil inside each one of us.
Mister Hyde really seemed crazy and scary. They speak clearly enough to be understood by people who have a B1 level. The fact there were two different actors for the same character really made it possible to explain both sides of the character.
While watching the play, we felt surprised and a little scared, but also very interested in the story and the characters.
The goal of the play is to show people how the bad and good sides of everyone can fight and sometimes take over on.
The lights and the music created a mysterious and tense atmosphere. »
